Why not consider the apprenticeship scheme?

adminBlog, Business

Here at e-clinic we recognise the value of apprentices and have benefited significantly from new team members via the apprenticeship scheme.

Apprenticeships mix on-the-job training with classroom learning, leading to a nationally recognised qualification. As an apprentice, you earn while you learn, gaining practical, job-specific skills. An apprenticeships normally takes between 1 and 5 years to complete, depending on the level.

From the point of view of an employer, hiring an apprentice is a cost-effective way to grow your team and a great opportunity to train an enthusiastic young person for a role you need to fill.

The average apprenticeship improves productivity by £214 a week. 94% of employers consider apprenticeships an effective way of increasing young people’s chances of finding paid jobs and apprenticeships.

At e-clinic, we have welcomed three apprentices. We first recruited Danielle; after successfully completing her apprenticeship, Danielle was offered a full-time role at e-clinic and has proved herself to be a key team member.

Next we took on Scott on as an apprentice. He successfully completed his apprenticeship and, like Danielle, progressed to a permanent role with e-clinic. He was then offered a great job at another business. We wished Scott all the best at his new job, knowing that we had positively contributed towards his career.

Our latest recruit, Jack, is currently working with us as an apprentice whilst completing his classroom learning at Estio Training.

We have used Estio to recruit all of our apprentices. Estio is a training provider that specialises in matching talented young people to hi-tech apprenticeship opportunities. Apprentices with Estio gain internationally recognised qualifications, along with first rate work experience. We have been delighted with the support that Estio has given e-clinic during the years we have worked with them and can thoroughly recommend them as a great way to recruit IT staff.

Apprenticeships are available in 1500 job roles, covering more than 170 industries, from advertising to youth work and from environmental engineering to legal.

We asked e-clinic’s Managing Director, Mark Lainchbury, to comment on his experience of the scheme:

“The apprenticeship scheme has allowed us to expand our support team without any excessive employment costs. Having a larger support team has massively improved our response times to customer queries.

An apprenticeship is a way of learning on the job without accumulating large debts, it gives an individual the necessary practical skills to be successful in their chosen industry and only teaches them the skills they need and will use.

“I think that the work we do at e-clinic can be quite complex and hard to understand, however our current apprentice, Jack, has settled in well and he is developing his knowledge quickly with the help of Estio Training.”

If you have any questions about apprenticeships at e-clinic, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us  or Estio Training.
